Bio:
Regina Klenjoski is one of the most active and ambitious dance makers leading Southland contemporary companies (Lewis Segal, Los Angeles Times). Recognized for her innovative partnering, technical athleticism and dynamic energy, she has created 27 works for Regina Klenjoski Dance Company since its inception in 1999. She has received numerous awards including four Choreography awards from the prestigious Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival and 26 Lester Horton Dance Award nominations with four awards for achievement in choreography, costume, music and lighting design. She was recently honored with a Distinguished Alumni Award from her alma mater, Ohio University, and received an Excellence in Arts Award from the City of Torrance for her contributions to the community. In addition to being presented at the Avignon Festival Off in France, her work has been performed regionally and nationally and has been commissioned by Chicago's Next Dance Festival, Loyola Marymount University, Tennessee Children's Dance Ensemble, California State University Long Beach, Renaissance High School for the Arts, and Zephyr Dance. She serves as the executive director of RKDC's 500-student Dance School in Torrance, producer of the SOLA Contemporary Dance Festival, and guest teaches contemporary dance at various community and educational settings.

Since 1999, Regina Klenjoski Dance Company has been captivating audiences with the inventive choreography, fierce athleticism and poetic storytelling that has made them a staple in the Los Angeles dance scene. Under the artistic direction of Regina Klenjoski, the company of six dancers along with an impressive roster of collaborating artists, continue to create and perform diverse, social, political, abstract and emotion-driven contemporary dance theater. The companys repertory of 27 works includes intimate choreographic studies, dramatic evening-length works, dance film and site-specific installations, all of which have won Ms. Klenjoski accolades from some of California's foremost authorities on dance. The company has received 26 Lester Horton Award nominations and numerous commissions, awards and presentations both for Ms. Klenjoski's work and for her innovative educational programming.

RKDCs artistic versatility extends itself into the realm of arts education and community service. Having been the South Bay leader in the dance arts since 1999, the company's dance residency program with the City of Torrance offers over 50 classes in youth and adult dance and fitness classes to the community, mentors two youth performance groups, and produces the yearly SOLA Contemporary Dance Festival, a project which pairs exceptional high school dancers with local contemporary dance choreographers. In 2001, RKDC incorporated as a 501(c) 3, allowing the company to expand their efforts in bringing quality performances and educational opportunities to a wide-ranging and diverse audience. The non-profit organization is also dedicated to collaborations with exceptional artists from all disciplines and partnerships with other organizations dedicated to community building through the arts.

On what we're performing:
"One-Two-Many" is RKDC's newest work set to premiere at Celebrate Dance 2012. Choreographed by Regina Klenjoski, it features an original score by one of RKDC's long time collaborators, composer Mark Fitchett. The artistic team also includes costume designer, Denise Lichter, RKDC's resident costume designer since 2002. "One-Two-Many" is a fast paced, hyper-kinetic trio that begs the question "Are you a buying what they're selling?" The dance reflects the choreographer's view on media's seductive influences and America's cultural compulsion towards over-consumption.
