The Supper Club is the most elegant of the dance spots I have been to in New York City, or anywhere else for that matter. This is definitely a swing club, except that the live band plays songs which are slow enough, and the floor clears just enough, every so often. This was enough to partly satiate a ballroom dancer such as myself with the occasional foxtrot. I wasn't the only person foxtrotting either. There was an older couple dressed to the nines making their way around the floor too. I was expecting dinner and dancing, but it turns out that they have a floor show too. This explained the $25 "music charge". The floor show was a little over the top, but quite enjoyable. The full evening was a tad expensive, but the food was good, and all things considered was worth the money. For a less expensive evening, it is possible to show up later just for dancing to their live band. Call ahead for details or reservations.
