Homage to Tango Argentino in World Tango Festival

On the night of October 13th, 2005 Anton Gazenbeek and
Natalie Laruccia gave an unforgettable performance in
tribute to the Show Tango Argentino in "La noche de
los Jovenes" (Night of Young Dancers)in the World
Tango Festival 2005 at the Confiteria Ideal in Buenos
Aires. This was the first public homage to Tango
Argentino carried out in Argentina and also the first
time a professional North American couple has been
invited to perform in the World Tango Festival in
Buenos Aires. This was a truly historic night in
Buenos Aires and one that will be remembered for years
to come.

There were over 500 people in attendance from all over
the world. Anton & Natalie danced two songs from the
show in authentic costume, hair & make up from the
historic show, and in the choreography they performed
one figure from each of the couples that was in the
show. Many of the dancers from the original cast
including Gloria & Eduardo Arquimbau, Carlos y Maria
Rivarola, Carolina Iotti and Nelida Rodriguez were
present to receive this homage.

It was a tremendous success and extremely well
received by the audience. Although there were many
moments of applause during the performance, the
loudest applause came when Anton and Natalie broke
into the famous high-speed Copes and Nieves variacion
at the end of Quejas de Bandoneon. The crowd
absolutely went wild with applause.

This presentation was the culmination of many years of
research into the Show Tango Argentino conducted by
dancer and choreographer Anton Gazenbeek, who is
considered an expert and an authority on the show. The
couple will repeat the presentation on November 8th in
Salon Canning during the Third Cultural Encounter of
Tango Dancers held by the AMBCTA (Asociacion de
Bailarines, Maestros, y Coreografos de Tango
Argentino).
