Zlokower Ian Kane's Stride Trio is a newly formed group led by composer and pianist, Ian Kane. Completing the trio are bassist, Yanko Valdes, and bongo player/multi-percussionist, Justin Heinz, both of whom are classically trained. The trio mixes elements of 1920's Harlem stride piano playing and Tin Pan Alley songwriting with modern-day subject matter and oblique crooning. The resulting sound is exuberant yet cynical, and brings to mind crosses between Gershwin and Ben Folds 5, or J.P. Johnson (one of the originators of stride) and the spirit of the Ramones.
