Named for the third floor of France's Palais Garnier, where young dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet start their careers, 3e Étage is a contemporary ballet ensemble featuring some of the most exceptional dancers from the legendary dance company. In this intimate U.S. debut, these first-class performers unleash the full range of their classical and contemporary capabilities with a distinct French style.
The program is a lively blend of serious virtuosity and fun, with a wide variety of work including excerpts of William Forsythe's Limb's Theorem and the delightfully witty me2, choreographed by Artistic Director Samuel Murez and inspired by the bilingual poem "Me Too" by Raymond Federman. The engagement also features Les bourgeois, a solo from the one-act ballet Brel, in which choreographer Ben van Cauwenbergh translates one of the most famous songs of his fellow Belgian Jacques Brel.
