We have had a lot of snow recently here in New York City. I coincidentally came across this beautiful photo by Paul Kolnik (thank goodness the New York City Ballet has the good sense to take photos of every performance, AND the good sense to hire a fine photographer such as Mr. Kolnik). I was particularly struck by the dancer in the front right center of the image. To me, she seems to embody that moment of perfect joy that both dance and winter can bring: reaching towards and amid the gently falling snow, two perfect motions mirroring each other, for a moment everything is at peace.
