Some say, "I can't dance." To which we usually reply, "If you can walk, you can dance." Except that is not strictly true, because, as we have reported before, you can dance even if you can't walk (e.g. Wheelchair Dance). It turns out that even if you are a vegetable with no hands or feet, you can still dance. My sister and her kids (ages 2-7) were in town, so we went to The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. There were a couple of dance numbers, including one that was sort of a square dance/jig in a pirate's hang out. There were a couple of songs that would make for good swing numbers (one in the movie and one in the closing credits). The movie was a little silly. It has uplifting character development and just enough danger to keep things interesting without scaring the kids (such as carnivorous cheese puffs, and rock monsters that looked reminiscent of something in GalaxyQuest, which was also a little silly and entertaining). I thoroughly enjoyed it. My sister's kids were dancing in the aisles at the end of the movie. Literally.
