Thomas/Ortiz Dance, a contemporary dance company founded in 2001 by Ted Thomas and Frances Ortiz, is dedicated to developing new audiences through its groundbreaking narrative, thought-provoking works. Renowned for its "urban athleticism and Latin sensuality", the 14-member company introduces a reflective and emotionally engaging vision to modern dance. Both Thomas's and Ortiz's direction and choreographic works serve as the company's artistic foundation. Ted Thomas is a former dancer with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, after working with Ballet Hispanico, Elisa Monte, and the Murray Louis and Nikolais Company. The company is committed to expanding the knowledge and appreciation of dance by implementing community-based outreach and education programs and activities for the New England area.
