"We live in turbulent times, and many of us struggle to stay steady with the energy that moves through and around us.

We know that everything in life moves in waves: peace, conflict, light, darkness, sound, our thoughts, our bodies. Sometimes we sense these waves moving naturally during lovemaking, childbirth or the creative process. Other times we feel stuck in an old pattern, or overwhelmed by our circumstances and unable to ride all that's happening.

The 5Rhythms (flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness) offer us a way to physically embody these waves. They give us a physical vocabulary to express where we are and to trust wherever we're going. We practice the 5Rhythm Wave over and over to help us ground when we are in chaos, flow when we feel frozen, and surrender to our natural state of being: a fluid body in motion. This weekend will help us learn to surf the waves of this lifeâ€"to stay present and in motion with whatever comes our way."

About the teacher:Kathy Altman first honed her group facilitation skills as the Director of Education and Training for Planned Parenthood. Her first encounter with Gabrielle sparked a catalytic, creative partnership; she has produced events and training programs with her for the past 20 years. Kathy is the co-founder of Right Hand Productions, which offers business management assistance to teachers such as Shakti Gawain, Stanislav and Christina Grof, Margo Anand, Leonard Laskow and Angeles Arrien. Kathy has studied with Gabrielle for over twenty-two years, is on the teaching faculty for Gabrielle's international institute, The Moving Center, and co-founded the Moving Center School in Mill Valley, CA. where she maintains a teaching practice.
