The Boston Tea Party at the 100 ClubRobert Abrams November 6, 2004 100 Oxford Street London, England The Boston Tea Party, a four man swing band led by Jonny Boston, can really lay into an uptempo swing tune. Their music was very danceable. It was often very fast. If you are a Lindy hopper, Boston Tea Party will keep you warm at night. In addition to the fast tunes, they played a couple that would have made fine West Coast Swing numbers. They played both covers and original works. The originals often had complex rhythmic structures that threaded a Latin or Cha-cha sensibility through a Swing base. Saturday nights appear to be more of a jazz than a dance crowd, but with the right partner you could easily break the floor open with the music of the Boston Tea Party. Check them out at www.jonnyboston.com. For more about the 100 Club, check out www.the100club.co.uk. The 100 Club serves individual size pizzas with a side salad. They were quite good. Make sure to get there early if you want to be sure of getting a pizza or a table because the place tends to fill up after the first hour or so.
