First Night—Providence, RI - 2003

By Dr. Roberta E. Zlokower

First Night in Providence, a different and unique hideaway, a New England Tradition, snow and ice, but ever so warm in its scintillating memories. Everybody in town can participate, and First Night festivities, throughout the Capital City, included theater, mime, fire-dancers, Dance Music, Latin dance, Illusionists, and a grand finale of fireworks, one that only a City like Providence could put together. Providence is one of my favorite cities, as I had lived there for a few years, and the restaurants and ambiance are ethnic and exciting. In the following photos, I think I have captured the essence of First Night Providence, so aptly organized by Doris Stephens, the Executive Director, and the businesses and Political Officials of the City of Providence, RI.
