The North Shore Civic Ballet (NSCB) will spread some holiday cheer in its premiere in the annual 12 Dancers Dancing…A Christmas in Cambridge. The holiday event will be shown on December 16 and 17 at 8:00 p.m. at the Dance Complex, located at 536 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the Julie Ince Thompson Theater. The program features new dance pieces presented by 18 area Boston dance companies. Original choreography and an array of dance styles and inspirational work will be shown.

Tickets, adults for $21 and seniors and children for $15, may be purchased online. http://bit.ly/2gQ2bnZ Bring a new toy for donation to a children's charity and receive $1.00 off the admission.

Under Artistic Director Paula K. Shiff, the NSCB, a 42-year-old nonprofit based at the Marblehead School of Ballet in Marblehead, Massachusetts, will appear for the first time in the holiday program. The company will debut the original modern ballet piece, Ascent, choreographed by Ivan Korn. The piece will honor the memory of Polish cellist Agnieszka Dziubak with music by Hildur Guonadottir. The NSCB's performers will wear new costumes donated by Lucy Sprague Frederiksen.

Dancers from the area scheduled to appear in the NSCB's new work are Mia Chung, Mollie Frederiksen and Emma Carbo. They have studied at the MSB for several years and performed in a range of NSCB programs. Chung attends Boston University Academy in Boston, and Frederiksen is pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy at MGH Institute of Health Professions. Carbo, who holds an associates degree from Endicott College and pursued a dance major at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, has taught ballet at the MSB.

The NSCB has performed previously in other programs at The Dance Complex and welcomes the opportunity to appear in this holiday program. "We are delighted to debut in this festive event and collaborate and perform with other companies in the Boston area," said Shiff.
