The announcement from Marion Garmel, the secretary of the Woman's Press Club of Indiana, is below:

Woman's Press Club of Indiana announced winners of its annual Communications Contest May 16, 2015 at an awards luncheon in Indianapolis, IN.

Rita Kohn, who writes about dance for ExploreDance.com and is a member of the Board of the Dance Critics Association, won first place for feature story, online publication, for her article, "Ballet Not a Dying Language at Indianapolis School of Ballet" (ExploreDance.com/3723), written for ExploreDance.com.

Woman's Press Club of Indiana was founded in 1913 as an organization of working women journalists in Indiana. It currently is open to Indiana communicators in all media, and is open to men as well as women. WPCI is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women, founded in 1937 as a confederation of the woman's press clubs in various states of the United States.

Kohn's first-place article will go on to compete with articles in the same category from other NFPW affiliates at the NFPW national conference Sept. 10-12 in Anchorage, Alaska.
