Dzul Dance will premiere "Pixom" (Maya for "Spirit") based on Mayan fables for children. Much like our own childrens' fairytales, these fables are both beautiful and macabre, and are inspired by ancient legends of the Aluxes, Kizin and Ixtabay. The fables are well known to company director/choreographer Javier Dzul, who was born and raised in a Mayan tribal community in southern Mexico. April 18, 8 PM at the John Jay, 524 West 59 Street.
