RIOULT Dance NY, a leading American modern dance company with a classic sensibility, will perform on Wednesday and Thursday, November 19 and 20, 2014 at 7:30pm at the James Devin Moncus Theater at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, 101 W. Vermilion St., Lafayette, LA 70501. Tickets range from $26.00 to $30.00 and are available at https://itkt.choicecrm.net/templates/ACA/?prod=Rioult. The Wednesday, November 19 performance will be preceded by a conversation with Artistic Director/Choreographer Pascal Rioult in the Atrium at 6:45pm.

Partially funded through the South Arts Dance Touring Initiative this multi-day residency will include a Lecture Demonstration for the Lafayette Parish Talented program, master classes for students at the LJ Alleman Arts Academy, Prairie Elementary School, and University of Louisiana Lafayette, and a community master class at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, Some rehearsals will be open to the public as well. For information on community engagement activities please contact Paige@AcadianaCenterfortheArts.

The evening performances will feature three dances from the company's vast and varied repertory including "Les Noces," "Wien," and "Celestial Tides". In "Les Noces", set to Stravinsky's eponymous score, Pascal Rioult modernizes the marriage ritual offering four couples caught somewhere between desire and fear. "Wien," a darkly fascinating take on Ravel and the Viennese Waltz, is the very image of social refinement which becomes the symbol of social disarray and decay. The program closes with "Celestial Tides," a stunning, abstract dance set to Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 in B-flat major."

RIOULT Dance NY, celebrating its 20th Anniversary in the 2014-2015 Season, fast became an established name in modern dance with a reputation for bringing the sensual, articulate, and musical dance works of Pascal Rioult to audiences worldwide. The ten dancer company, based in New York City, is led by husband-and-wife team Artistic Director/Choreographer Pascal Rioult and Associate Artistic Director Joyce Herring ― both former Martha Graham Dance Company principal dancers. With an established repertoire of over 40 dances that expands each year, RIOULT Dance NY presents an annual New York Season and tours nationally and abroad. In addition, in-school arts education and community outreach, both at home and on tour, have been integral to the company since its inception introducing students and families to the art of modern dance.
