The Bessies: the New York Dance and Performance Awards are the city's premiere dance awards, honoring outstanding choreography, performing, composing and design for dance since 1984. This year the awards are moving to a new home, the Apollo Theater, one of the city's most vital and historic centers of culture and entertainment. The award categories have been revised and, for the first time, nominated works have been announced. For the full list of nominated artists, visit www.dancenyc.org/dance-nyc/bessies. The Bessies aim to gather the city's wide ranging dance communities, to salute dance work done in many different genres, and to advocate for dance on the world stage. Please join us as we celebrate the city's vibrant and ever-expanding dance world. All dance artists and dance watchers welcome!
