Break Out - a dance-comedy

"Break Out," a dance-comedy featuring performers from Korea, at the Union Square Theater at 100 East 17th Street continues through October 12. Koreans, with their tradition of including acrobatics in their dance experience, have built a plot of a prison break and a magical book that falls from outer space that reforms all who touch it into break dancers and beat boxers.

Popular street dancing and all sub-culture dances evolved and migrated from the commedia del'arte form that flourished in the 16th to 18th century in Italy. What's new is old and still fun.
