South Bay Ballet's THE NUTCRACKER, returns to El Camino College on Saturday December 15th and Sunday December 16th at 2:00 pm.  The performances features Alexandria Mitchell, the 2007 Music Center Spotlight Award Finalist, as the Sugar Plum Fairy and making a guest appearance is Julie Knabe, wife of Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe.
Featuring more than 80 pre-professional ballet students under the guidance of Diane Lauridsen at Lauridsen Ballet Centre in Torrance, the Company also reaches out to the community through our free private outreach preview for select disabled and disadvantaged children who might not otherwise have access to attend high-quality ballet performances.

Noted for its unparalleled production, South Bay Ballet's The Nutcracker features original choreography by Charles Maple, world renowned choreographer and former American Ballet Theatre soloist, and remarkable set designs by artist Jenny Tomich.

Audiences will be entertained by the uplifting surprises, turns, and twists to this time-honored holiday story. Unique to South Bay's The Nutcracker is the presentation of Clara as a young girl who dreams of becoming a ballerina. In her dream she grows up and dances with her Nutcracker Prince in a performance at the Kingdom of the Sweets. It's this new conception - a ballet about ballet and the passion to dance - that sets South Bay Ballet's Nutcracker apart from others.

Tickets are available at the Marsee Auditorium at 310-329-5345. Tickets are $28 for adults and, and $18 for children under 12. Visit www.centerforthearts.org.
