Level E Technique Class at Studio Maestro's Summer Intensive taught by Jennifer McKelvey

Information about Studio Maestro's Summer Intensive
This series of photos provides a sense of a typical ballet class. It starts with a series of excercises at the barre, which are both a warm-up and a work-out. Then the students take a short break. As can be seen from the extension of the student's split, all of that stretching has paid off. In the second half of the class, the students perform combinations in the middle of the open floor. Repeatedly. And again. The students were very dedicated, attacking each combination when their turns came. Ms. McKelvey provided both group and individual instruction as needed, sometimes explaining what she wanted and sometimes demonstrating the movement. As can be seen from the photos, Ms. McKelvey made a concerted effort to pay attention to the needs of the entire class. As can be seen in the photos of Ms. McKelvey demonstrating to the class, the class would be well advised to (and did) pay attention to her evident artistry.
