NEW GENERATION DANCE COMPANY, with direction and choreography by DARDO GALLETTO, will present "Black - White Tango," a fusion of contemporary dance and traditional tango, set to music by Astor Piazzolla and Maurice Ravel.   A native of Cordoba Argentina, Dardo Galletto trained in ballet, modern dance, and tango, and toured with Julio Bocca's Ballet Argentino. In addition to directing his young company, Galletto is a teacher of tango at the Sandra Cameron Dance Center.

A company of twelve dancers, including Galletto, and guests from American Ballet Theatre and Broadway's "Forever Tango" will perform two programs of original works by Galletto, with the intoxicating energy, style, and passion of tango.

Opening Night, July 27 at 8 PM (Gala), will present a sampling of both programs, including new and favorite company works.

Program A (July 28 at 8 PM and July 29 at 3 PM) includes Four Seasons, inspired by the incomparable music of renowned tango master Astor Piazzolla. The dance uses the changing energy and emotions of the seasons to reflect our own nature, from "letting go" in the Fall, to retreating in the Winter, followed by renewal in Springtime and joy in Summer. Segments from the company work Aires de Tango will be included, delivering the virtuosity of today's "Nuevo Tango" with its complex partnering, leg flicks, and remarkable lifts. In the dance Alone in Buenos Aires, Galletto uses a sensuous, distinctive movement style to evoke solitude and aloneness.

Program B (July 29 at 8 PM; July 30 at 3 PM) features two contrasting works receiving their World Premieres.  Black-White Tango, the company's most contemporary dance, is an ingenious blend of modern dance forms and tango embellishments, exploring the theme of opposites and reminding us that things often are not what they seem.  Bolero de Ravel, for six couples, offers a novel interpretation of Ravel's famous Bolero. With their continual entrances and exits, the dancers evoke the fluidity and ever-changing quality of our lives. The program will also include highlights from Aires de Tango.

New Generation dancers: Sergio Amarante, Leah Barsky, Gabriel Contreras, Catherine Correa, Mariana Galassi, Miwa Kaneko, Oliver Kolker, Nuria Martinez, Karina Romero, Ritsuko Sato, Valeria Salomonoff, and Dardo Galletto.
Associate director: Karina Romero.

More About Dardo Galletto:
Born in Cordoba, Argentina, Galletto initially studied dance as a supplement to his training as an actor. Dance soon took over as his main passion, and he began studying in earnest. He received his training in contemporary dance from the prestigious "Teatro General San Martin" school of contemporary dance in Buenos Aries, and his ballet training at the "Teatro Colon" with leading ballet masters of Argentina. Following his graduation from the "Teatro General San Martin" school, Dardo toured with the world renowned Ballet Argentino, directed by Julio Bocca. He and his wife, Karina Romero, moved to New York in 2001. Though he never expected to be directing his own company so early in his career, Galletto founded New Generation Dance Company in 2003, compelled to use his ballet, contemporary, and tango styles to create new dances.
